There was an elephant
big and tall
despised by all
for he was mean.
Alone he roamed
through the woods
terror to all
shunned by all.
One day he fell into a ditch
no one came to help
weeks he cried
became weak
died in solitude.
No one lives
on an island alone
Live in such a way
that you have friends.

Dr. KP Yohannan Metropolitan writes about friendship and many other aspects of life in his book, Little Things That Make a Big Difference.
Let us not be like the elephant in this article. Our lives are intertwined and are meant to be lived in community. You may be well-off in some aspects in life while others are less fortunate. But what an opportunity for you to help others on the other end of the rope. Be a channel of blessing. So many people, especially children are needing your help. I saw this video of Dalit children who are sentenced to a lifetime of suffering but of no fault of their own. We all can help them in various ways as the Lord leads.
