George Verwer’s book Messiology is a very good book to read.
George Verwer (founder of Operation Mobilization) has been significantly influential in my life. I was nearly 17 when I heard him speak a gripping message in Bangalore. I was scared to death of what God was asking of me that night, and it was then that I fully surrendered my life to serve the Lord. And ever since, George Verwer has remained to me my leader and someone I respect greatly. I’m just one of the many thousands of people that follow him in this journey.
Out of all the many books he has written, I think his latest book, Messiology, may possibly be the best one. It has helped me immensely. There is no one who doesn’t need encouragement. Some have journeyed long miles before us to show us the way, and Messiology is the result of the many years George Verwer has traveled under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
Diversity and misunderstandings are a part of life. Look around, and we all can easily find differences, disappointments, controversy, failed expectations, misunderstandings and confusion in our lives. But amid it all God is at work in it and through it and with it. And that’s what Messiology is all about. This present time and space—that’s the only thing we understand. We measure life with it. But a billion years ago, God saw exactly that you would be reading this blog now, where you would be sitting, what you would be thinking, and all the challenges that you are facing in your life right now. Whatever happens in our “present tense” really makes no sense unless we are able to see the total picture, which we cannot know until we see Him. That’s the reason the Bible says, “The just shall live by faith.” His promises are true. We are to trust the Lord amidst the mess!

I met Dr Verwer in Cambodia during an OM event. I loved his jacket with the world map on it. He was such a humble man. So full of wisdom. I pray that God will give him more joy in serving Him.
