Ants - KP Yohannan - Gospel for Asia

Tens of thousands
like an army they marched
Came from who knows where
going where only they know.

An army of ants
climbing the wall
carrying their rice
and bits of food.

I sat down to watch
hoping to learn what I could.

No confusion
they marched well
to a tune they all knew.

They talked to each other
with a touch of their bodies
giving and receiving news
They seemed to show great love.

One ant fell and hurt himself
A whole group came to carry him
There were many of them
taking care of their wounded friend.

They could have said,
“He is only one—
let’s forget him
and finish our job.”

Don’t kill a wounded soldier,
my friend
You too will someday be
in his shoes.
